1. Bad interruptions versus useful questions
Part of the job is understanding what I can solve independently and what needs agency input because it affects logic, UX or project cost. Every unnecessary message eats attention; every missing question can trigger a problem four sprints later.
Asking for confirmation on things already defined slows everyone down. Flagging a risk in checkout, performance or content structure prevents rework and protects reputation. The gap between a developer who communicates too much and one who communicates too little is the gap between a traffic jam and a dangerous silence.
- I avoid basic questions that can be answered by reading the file better or applying a clear pattern.
- I raise a point when the choice can damage flow, SEO, conversion or future maintainability.
- When I ask, I come with a proposed solution, not just the problem.
2. Autonomy around assets and blockers
If a non-critical asset is missing, I do not freeze the project waiting for a reply. My UI background lets me handle image prep, SVG cleanup and sensible responsive adaptation without escalating every minor gap.
That keeps delivery moving and leaves the agency team free to focus on decisions that actually matter: strategy, client relationships and winning new contracts.
Technical autonomy does not mean making design decisions on behalf of the team. It means knowing which choices are technical, which are strategic, and respecting those boundaries transparently.
3. Short communication, high signal
I prefer compact updates about status, dependencies and real risks instead of long message chains. For PMs and agency owners that means less overhead and better predictability.
When I write, it is usually to close a handoff point, confirm a decision or flag a genuine project risk. Context already arrives distilled, so whoever reads it can decide fast.
Structured status updates, clear channels and zero 'just checking in' messages. Silence is our green signal.
